RWANDA AND UKRAINE DISCUSS HOW TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL RELATIONS
Kigali, 18 April 2024 - Minister Vincent Biruta held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Subkh Maksym Aliyovych, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa, who is in Rwanda for a two-day visit. They discussed ways to cement bilateral relations between the two countries.
During this visit, Mr. Aliyovych also visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial to pay respects to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. He also officiated the opening ceremony of the Ukrainian Embassy in Kigali.
Rwanda maintains its diplomatic relations with Ukraine through non-resident Ambassador in Berlin, while, Ukraine has established its Embassy in Kigali headed by a chargé d'Affaires.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister visited Rwanda in May 2023, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Political Consultations.
