President Kagame holds one-day Working Visit to Tanzania

Dar es Salaam, 7 March 2019 - President Kagame and Chairman of the East African Community on Thursday held a one-day Working Visit to Tanzania.

During his stay, President Kagame held a tête-à-tête meeting with his host President John Pombe Magufuli at State House in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The visit was an opportunity for the two leaders to discuss issues pertaining to bilateral relations between the two countries as well as regional integration.

"Once again, let me say thank you, as a brother and a friend, and we will continue to build our countries, our region and Africa in general," President Kagame said after the bilateral meeting.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, President Kagame commended the productive discussions he held with President Magufuli that are beneficial to both the countries and the community in general.

"I thank my brother and friend, President Magufuli, for the warm welcome and the discussions on developing our two countries and the East African Community. We have had good discussions on business, trade and politics," President Kagame said.

Rwanda's Foreign Minister and Chairperson of the EAC Council of Ministers, Dr. Richard Sezibera met with his Tanzanian counterpart, Prof Palamagamba Kabudi, ahead of President Paul Kagame’s visit to Dar es Salaam. Both Ministers exchanged views on bilateral and regional cooperation.

President Kagame was last in Tanzania in January 2018 for a working visit while President Magufuli visited Rwanda in April 2016.
