Ambassador Isumbingabo presents Credentials to the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic
During this ceremony, President Vorachith explained the social and economic situation of the country, with focus to graduate from the least developed country status by the year 2020. This will be achieved through several strategies and policies the country has adopted, where the public investment in the country’s program will amount to 700 Million dollars per year, whereas the Foreign Direct Investment’s share is about two-third of the whole needed budget. Efforts are also deployed to mobilize international development partners to venture in the growing economy.
Ambassador Isumbingabo transmitted messages of best wishes of peace, good health and prosperity to the Lao President H.E. Bounnhang Vorachith and the people of LAO PDR from His Excellency Paul Kagame, The President of the Republic of Rwanda.
She also expressed gratitude for the momentous occasion, to strengthen the linkages between the Lao people and the people of Rwanda. She ensured the President that Rwanda will continue to promote exchanges between two countries and further cultivate the diplomatic relations that already exist since 2009.
She presented the status of the Country's programs to reach middle income and knowledge based economy by the year 2020. She further presented Rwanda as a country that has the fastest growing economy in the region, mainly due to the security and political stability, as well as the laws and strategies that have been put in place for facilitating the investments. The Ambassador explained that the engine for all the achievement is the visionary leadership that Rwanda has been enjoying for 22 years.
The Ambassador expressed the Republic of Rwanda’s wishes to build links with Lao People’s Democratic Republic, a country with the same visionary growth, and seek ways to open up friendships for new generations and the sharing of ideas and working in partnership both in bilateral and in multilaterals.
The President of Lao People’s Democratic Republic expressed a strong wish and recommendation to the Ambassador to actively contribute to an improved bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and LAO during this new area of diplomatic relations.
The Lao President concluded by wishing good luck to the new Ambassador and by giving her messages of best wishes of peace, good health and prosperity to the President, H.E. Paul Kagame, and to the people of the Republic of Rwanda.
During the three-day official visit to LAO, the Ambassador and the accompanying diplomat Mr. Claude Ganza Kanyanduga, First Counselor of the Embassy, made courtesy calls to several Government dignitaries, including the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, H.E. Mrs. Khamphao Ernthavanh and the Vice Minister of Planning and Investment, H.E. Dr. Mr. Kikeo Chantsabouly. They discussed on the way renewed diplomatic relations and the way to have a trade exchange cooperation started between Rwanda and LAOS.
The Lao People’s Democratic Republic is a country located in the South-East Asia, which is traversed by a river called Mekong River. The country is known for its mountainous terrain with French Colonial Architecture, the country is made by hill tribe settlements and a lot of Buddhist temples and monasteries. The LAO PDR has a population of 6.802 million with a GDP of 12.33 billion US dollars making a GDP per capita of almost 2,000 USD, with an economical growth of 7% planning to increase it to 7.5% in the coming years.
Ambassador Isumbingabo was appointed Ambassador to the Republic of Korea in July 2014 where she presented the letters of Credence to Her Excellency Park Geun-hye in November 2014. With residence to Seoul, Republic of Korea, the Ambassador is also accredited to both LAO PDR and the Kingdom of Cambodia.
